Run the Seam Inspector Before Every Spoonflower Upload
This feature sounds minor until the day it saves you from an expensive mistake.
Here’s the scenario I hear constantly: a designer uploads to Spoonflower, orders a sample, and only when the fabric arrives do they find a hairline seam break. Tiles don’t quite meet. A subtle gap right at the repeat edge that was invisible on screen.
That sample cost $30–$50. And your faith in your own workflow.
Here’s the five-minute process that prevents it:
- Upload your pattern tile to PatternPal Pro and run your preview as usual.
- Open the Seam Inspector. It renders your pattern tiled in Full Drop, Half Drop, or Half Brick — whichever repeat type you’re using.
- Zoom in tight on each edge — much tighter than you’d view it in Procreate or Photoshop. You’re looking at exactly where tiles meet.
- Pan slowly across the repeat boundaries. Look for color shifts, gaps, doubled lines, or motifs getting cut awkwardly.
- Catch it, fix it in your original file, re-upload, and check again before you export or send to Spoonflower.
Pro tip: Seam errors are especially sneaky in half-drop repeats. They look perfect in full-drop view and only reveal themselves at the offset edges. Check all repeat types if you’re not certain which you’ll submit.
